Mission accomplished: Precision and expertise on MV Zhong Ren 121
Careful transport of three floating units
Complex challenges.
Seamless solutions.
A complex shipment for Jan De Nul Group was successfully completed, demonstrating precision engineering and operational expertise in transporting three floating units with customized stowage and ballast solutions.
Recently, we successfully completed a complex shipment for our valued client Jan De Nul Group, with brokerage support from Multi Marine Chartering & Agencies. The project involved the careful transport of three floating units.
The journey began in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, where the cargo was loaded using a float-on method and concluded with a float-off discharge. This was no ordinary shipment; it was a testament to our team’s skill and attention to detail. To minimize lateral cargo overhang during the voyage – a requirement of our client – our engineers executed a precise stowage plan. This included dismantling lateral fenders on one of the units to position it tightly between two stern buoyancy tanks, with a clearance of just one meter. Bright colour paint marks on the hulls ensured accurate alignment per the stowage and cribbing plan.
Each unit’s unique floating draft required a detailed ballast plan, allowing for optimal vessel submersion, trim, and list throughout each stage of loading. Additionally, custom-designed hard-wood wedges were fitted between the seafastenings and the hull of one unit to account for its aged and deformed structure, ensuring stability and safety throughout the journey.
This achievement underscores our unwavering commitment to engineering excellence and operational precision. Special thanks to our partners and dedicated team for making this complex shipment a success!
